Wii :D

[mood : excited
last song: Merii - Japanese Modernist
last anime: D.Gray-Man #33
last J-drama: Gokusen #12 FINAL]

Today I got my package containing the Wii Zapper with Link's Crossbow training, so it's just in time for Sinterklaas [ which is today also ;) ]
The game is not all that special, but that zapper is really cool! Now I can finally play Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles with a gun! :P
I have been trying to unlock stuff by playing on hard mode, but ATM I only have the first 2 missions cleared with an S ranking...

Yesterday I had my last normal Japanese lesson for this course. Next week will be a review followed by a test, while the week after that we'll be having dinner in a Japanese restaurant in Utrecht. I think I'll try and learn as much words as possible, but I'm not really worried about the test...

Kuruma

It's been 7 years since I got my drivers license but from august 2006 till august 2007 was actually the first year that I've really driven a lot. When I bought my car last year it had 12.500KM on the counter and when I was driving to my Japanese course in Utrecht it passed the 20.000 KM so I guess I've done my part in polluting the enviroment ;)
The years before I think I might have driven a car 4 or 5 times [under supervision though] so this year was really a boost for my confidence as a driver :D

Nowadays I'm in a traffic jam about twice a week [to Utrecht and to Rotterdam] and the most annoying thing I've come across are those Audi, Beamer and Merc drivers. If they're they are that rude at home as they are on the road, I feel sorry for their wives [yes, 95% of those pigs are male]

Driving on the freeway is not difficult at all.I kinda like the speed [120KM/H is still max], but some people just have to pass me with 150KM/H... May they all crash against a tree... Saves the world a lot of trouble and makes the traffic jams decrease, ne?
So freeways are ok, but in the city can be a disaster... pedestrians and bicycles coming from every direction and then there are annoying traffic-lights :S
But as you can see, I still live and so does my little blue car [I won't mention the "Iron Maiden" accident, because none of the people that were there are reading this anyway :D]

I finished playing Resident Evil after one day or so and now I'm trying to get an S-Score on every level while waiting for my WII-Zapper [release december 7th] That scorpion [lobsters look different, you know :P ] will be the least of your worries. Just wait until you get in Part 3 [that is the Resident Evil 3 part]... Ok... Time to be quiet or I'll spoil the game ;)

Mata ne :D

Naraka 19

I just finished watching a movie called Naraka 19 [dei yuk dai sup gau tsang]
and although I usually watch either Japanese movies or some Korean ones, this one was Chinese. Oh well, subtitles work miracles. Chinese is still a weird sounding language and Japanese has a much better sound anyway :D

The movie was about the 18 gates of hell. It's supposed to be in the Chinese culture and they have a gate for every sin. I really thought there were just seven sins [gluttony, greed, lust, wrath, envy, sloth, pride]
Anyway it was a nice movie, nothing special but entertaining enough to watch.

I also got a package today. It contained Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for my Wii [which is to be released on November 30th]. I'm not complaining, but as usual I couldn't help myself so I played it for hours and hours and hours. I kinda had something else to do, but I'll fix that tomorrow [hopefully]

As for my comment on last post's comment [sounds weird]: I know there are several places here in Holland to study Japanese. I do mine in Utrecht which is like an hour by car, but I think there were also courses in Den Haag. I just chose Utrecht because I heard some positive reactions and I like Utrecht better than Den Haag anyway... If you don't have the time [or just want to do it on your own pace] try self-study. I did that about 1 year ago and I'm amazed the words that come popping back up now that I'm learning Japanese again. Somewhere in my mind I guess some of them were still there...

Some things

Today we met our new teacher for Japanese 2. He will be taking over because Kibuchi-san would have had 4 classes next term and that was a bit too much for her I guess. [so WE were sacrificed :O ]
Anyway, Japanese is going fine at the moment [good thing that SOME things ARE going fine, ne]

I seem to have [at least] one curious reader [!] and I just wanted to say that I have no problem explaining my story, but it would be a bit much to put it on here. I also said that the hobbies post was the last one for a while [until I have more stuff to write about that]. And yes I DO have a car [kuruma ga motte imasu! -> sorry just came back from Japanese course]. It's a blue Suzuki Swift with a cute Naruto doll inside :P

Something else I want to mention is a movie called Suicide Circle. I recently gave that movie to a friend of mine and he found it disgusting. Sure it is a bit gory, but I remember I was in a half-shock-state all morning [gory movies first thing in the morning is a no-go] and really made me think... Unfortunately I can't say anything about it, cause that would spoil the movie. If somebody decides to watch it, I wanna have a chat with them [and if they can't find the movie I'll share mine]

That is all... おやすみ なさい [oyasumi nasai -> good night]

Hobbies vs Passions vs Addictions (3)

Ok... this will be the last post with this subject for a while because I don't know what to write about it anymore...

Putting all this time in my addictions is the only way ATM for me to feel happy I guess. Maybe not happy, but content. I think I made a wrong decision somewhere along the way to end up here and I can't seem to get out of it [or I don't see a need to it, because I'm doing all those things to get my mind off it]
It's not that doing all these things is hurting my social life, cause it's more like filling up a space where there could be a social life [or used to be like 5 years ago]

It's not like I live completely isolated [although I do think I could live as a hermit as long as I have an active internet connection :O ]
I sometimes miss the days where I would do stuff in the weekends and just have fun with others, but there's so much I wanna see now, that it doesn't really bother me.
Enough pessimistic thoughts already... Next subject!

About that anime marathon. I have been wanting to have an anime marathon with someone but she lives near Groningen nowadays and that's a looooooong drive :S

So if anybody else wants to volunteer just comment with a place and an anime :P

Sonata Arctica

Finally a concert in Tilburg again :P
013 is actually next to a big parking space and although I was there 30 minutes before it began, the L shirts were already SOLD OUT!
Not that it's a big problem, cause I've worn XL shirts for a long time so I'm used to swim in my shirts a little bit [maybe I just need to work out more]

Anyway the bands that were playing were Ride the Sky, Epica and Sonata Arctica
I don't think it was sold out, but there were a lot of people [in groups of 2+ and me being alone as usual]

Ride the Sky made me think of the band Jorn, although Jorn sounds better. They didn't really get the crowd going, so Sonata walked across the stage a couple of times. I never saw something like that before, but it was nice :D

Epica was up next and I love Epica :D They always have really heavy listening songs and deep lyrics compared to the new After Forever [Epica was a band formed by the lead guitarist from After Forever, if you didn't know] I've seen them several times now and every show I've seen is great!

Finally I could see Sonata playing! I've bought the first album back in 1999 and this was actually the first time I've seen them live. They played about 3 or 4 songs from their new album Unia [which is a lot softer than their earlier releases] and fortunately a lot of their old stuff :P
There was a sort of intermission where the singer divided the crowd in 3 groups and assigned a drum component to each. He called it drumming in public and it was really fun to see.

Next concert will be uhm... Nightwish on March 21st 2008, but I also want to go to Apocolyptica [December 10 2007] and Helloween [January 7 2008] but I'm not sure about going yet [mainly because I have to go by myself again]

Hobbies vs Passions vs Addictions (2)

Since somebody actually read the previous post with this title and wrote a comment with a question in it, I guess I have to answer :D

I searched wiki for a definition of addiction:
"An addiction is a recurring compulsion by an individual to engage in some specific activity, despite harmful consequences to the individual's health, mental state or social life."

~wikipedia

So knowing this, are my "addictions" harmfull for my health?
- the things you watch are probably bad for your eyes and music probably bad for my ears [all long term]
Mental state?
- I'd go mad with boredom is the power should be off more than 1 day :O
- Maybe I'd start reading or start zazen [which I have to do for Iaido anyway]...
- OH! Iaido [ -> katana ] practice outside [only in summer though, cause now it's to freaking cold for my shinigami outfit]

Social life?
- You mean I'd actually have one if I'd stop doing all those things?! :O
- Write that one down for my new years wish 2008

I'm gonna write my Sonata Arctica review tomorrow, cause right now the red bull effect is sooo gone...

Her eyes...

It's been a couple of months since I started watching some J-drama and it's been fun so far :D
I watched a drama called "Hana-zakari no Kiimi-tachi e" [which was on TV in Japan from July through September 2007, so fairly new] and the girl playing the lead role [Maki Horikita] did a great job in my opinion. BUT that's not all! Maki has such AMAZING EYES! She can put up a really really really REALLY かわいい [kawaii] face and with those eyes it would be enough to make any healthy male fall to his knees :P

Ok... so I searched for some more acting work done by her and she's done a lot of movies and dramas [for a 19 year-old girl anyway]. I've found 2 more series with her in it [Nobuta wo Produce & Kurosagi] and I've seen Nobuta wo Produce already [NOBUTA POWER CHUUNYUU!!!].

Conclusion: MAKI HORIKITA is とても かわいい [TOTEMO KAWAII] and is probably my favourite J-drama actress forever :P
GO MAKIMAKI!

Hobbies vs Passions vs Addictions

I've been thinking about this for some time now...

Everyone is used filling these things in when you have one [or more] profile pages, but what is the difference between those 3, really?
I guess hobbies are things that you like to do, but can live without if needed.
Passions are things that you are into with all your heart and it would hurt [mentally] you'd have to stop doing those things... And... most addictions [except for drugs etc] are also mentally, aren't they?

When I think about it, I have 4 major addictions/passions at the moment:
1) Music [a life without music would be... quiet and even more boring]
2) Anime [the addiction comes and goes, but has been there for some years now]
3) Gaming [same thing as for anime I guess]
4) Drama [newly found and very VERY addictive indeed]

So... are these things a passion of mine or are they addictions?

To anyone reading this, please comment on this :)

Dir en Grey in Amsterdam

*ANGRY MODE*
Ok... This was the last time I'm going to Amsterdam!
I wanted to go to an Dir en Grey concert in Amsterdam, so I usually would've gone there by car.
The big problem in Amsterdam is where to park your car, without risking a ticket or worse [getting it towed away]
Knowing that, I parked my car in a city near it, so I only had to travel 15 mins by train to get there.
I arrived late because I had to find a spot to park my car in that neighbouring city and I couldn't find any trams going to the place I wanted to go in Amsterdam.
So I walked, and I walked and I walked some more...
End of the story was that I couldn't find the place the concert was at and I am really pissed about that.
I think I passed itm but there weren't any signs...

Mr. Ticketmaker, wouldn't it be a good idea to print the address ON THE FREAKING TICKET NEXT TIME?!

And why did it have to be Amsterdam?!
Normally J-Rock bands perform in Utrecht, which is WAY better!
This was the 2nd chance I had to see them, and I blew it AGAIN!
Damn I hate Amsterdam....

Kamelot

The Kamelot concert in Zoetermeer was totally sold out and because my guildies were too late to get a ticket, it was just me again with all my invisible friends...

When I arrived, there was actually a loooooong line of people waiting and with a bit of luck I found a spot to park my car and went to stand in line. I have been to this place once before, although it was 3 years ago or so and it was way less crowded than it was now.

First band up was Fairyland. I didn't know them and I was waiting to get in so I only saw 3 of their songs, but it sounded ok [ie gonna download some ;) ]

Next was Leave's Eyes. Ever since Liv Kristine left Theatre of Tragedy, I've been following her progress from time. When they played Elegy I got goosebumps [ I guess that's my (un)conscious liking of a song ]

Kamelot started playing at 22:40 [pretty late for the main act, ne? ]
At that time, it was really getting hot in there because it was still packed with people... Kamelot played some songs from the Fourth Legacy, Karma, Epica, The Black Halo and from the upcoming album "Ghost Opera". They also played some songs that they never played live, so that was kinda cool :)
I don't think they had the duration of the concert perfected yet because it was finished at 0:20 [this was the first show from the new tour :) ]

I must be getting old cause the whole evening I could feel my lower back hurting and my legs were sooooo tired... I was glad to be in my car again so I could sit down and listen to Anna Tsuchiya. Later, when I was driving, I thought I could've listened to the promo single [from Kamelot] that I got when I left the concert, but I'm doing that now, so at least I've listened to it :)

Really tired now and only have 3 hours and 30 minutes to sleep...

Sadness

I just finished watching Supernatural 2x17 "Heart" and it was the saddest Supernatural episode I've ever seen :(

After all Sam and Dean tried to do for Madison to save her from being a werewolf [ie killing the one that made her into a werewolf] nothing helped and Sam [who had a thing for her] was asked to shoot her while she was human because she didn't want to kill other people in her werewolf-form. I don't think I ever saw Dean cry... And with tears in his eyes, he shot her... [you didn't see it, but you heard the single shot, which probably made more of an impact on me]
What a terrible thing to have to go through...

Update

It's been a while since my last post and since the whole universe is dying to know what I've been up to [nobody really cares], here goes...

Last weekend I finished watching Stargate SG1 [had season 10, eps 9-20] and now it's actually OVER! I can't believe this crappy ending! OK, very noble of Teal'c to sacrifice himself and become 50 years older [he wasn't human anyway so he gets to be 150 or so] but why did it have to be an open ending?! Yes, the Ori were obviously stopped, but Adria ascended to a higher plane of existance for crying out loud! Doesn't she have enough power now to make some new armies?! I would've liked some more info on that...

For the last couple of days I've been farming Globs of Ectoplasm in Guild Wars. They're one of the most valuable [and "easily farmable"] rare crafting materials which I can just sell for 8-10K each and since I need money to get Angelica her titles, this is a good way :)

The Greenhouse that my parents are rebuilding is nearing completion, so I don't have to help anymore with moving tons of bricks [physical labor is not for me ;) ]

When it is finished, I will finally be able to put my own car in the garage and their caravan will move to the greenhouse :)

I was going through some websites yesterday and I decided to find out if I can start with Iaido soon... I think there will be a demo in April.
AND I read that somewhere in september it will be able to follow a course of Japanese again, so I'm gonna do that too, I think... For now I'm just going through my Japanese book again and try to get as many words in my head as possible

Things @ School are still the same... I still have to find a spot... Now, I probably would find one if I really started searching, but for some reason I still can't put myself to it :(

I really really really have to get off this school [preferably with a graduation]

Kororinpa

My internet has already been fixed [see last post] but for some reason I just got out today and bought this game because I wanted to try it out :)

It's a cool game! short, but cool ;)

You basically control a maze with your Wiimote and you have to let a ball roll in a certain way, collecting crystals as it goes. My arm hurts from all this playing

INTERNET!

FINALLY my internet has been fixed!
After a whole day of digging and working those guys finally managed to get a nice new cable into our little house :P

I've been without internet for such a long time that I really don't know what to do first :)
Probably gonna pick up my Guild Wars addiction where I left it [bad habbits die hard ;) ]

I basically have 4 characters now:
- Raptor Warheart [LVL 20 Warrior/Necromancer]
my first character ever made, but playing warrior is pretty boring...
- Aurora Warheart [LVL9 Dervish/Mesmer]
really haven't played this character much, but I intend to sometime...
- Angelica Warheart [LVL20 Assassin/Elementalist] MAIN CHARACTER
I just love assassin! get in, kick ass, get out :D
- Yuki Warheart [LVL 11 Ranger/Ritualist] TEAM CHARACTER
I made this character to quest together with ii-chan [with her Ranger/Ritualist]

I'm gonna download some stuff and then I'm gonna play Guild Wars for a while... YAY!

As for music, I downloaded the Hitomi Takahashi discography and I like it!

ポケットモンスター パール

For those who don't have a clue what the title says: Pocket Monsters Pearl aka Pokemon Pearl.
I imported it from Japan just because I wanted to play it and I though it would be good for my Japanese learning [since everything is written in kana, which makes understanding a bit easier]

Anyway playing Pokemon is quite easy for me because I've been doing it for so many years already [since Red and Blue] and although I don't understand everything in Japanese I still know the game basics

After playing for a while I gave up on translating everything because the gamer in me took over [play now translate later ;) ]

The new controls during battles [because of the two screens on the Nintendo DS] are really easy to use and the graphics are really an improvement...
Another great thing is that you get your running shoes almost immediately [which really helps to speed things up]
Normally this game would be easier, [because it IS a game for kids after all] but I've decided to EV-train [special training dividing attribute points the way you want to] my pokemon right from the start, so that's really slowing me down.

Nice game, can't wait for the european release because I want my Alakazam :)

New buys:
Pokemon Pearl [Japanese]

Gothic Kabbalah

I really hate doing this offline and uploading it later, but for a couple more days, I have to live without internet… After 3 weeks someone @ my ISP finally did something to fix my cable and my connection will probably be fixed on Monday or Tuesday [ABOUT F*CKING TIME, YOU B*TCHES!]

Tonight I went to see Therion in 013 [Tilburg] and this time I didn’t have to go alone, because there were four of us going [ I didn’t even have to drive :O ]. Support acts were Sabaton [which was quite happy music] and Grave Digger [less happy, as you can imagine by looking at the name]. I think I might download a bit of Sabaton to hear it recorded and I’ll probably skip Grave Digger because I found their music more of the same.

On to Therion! J
I didn’t know they now had 4 vocalists [2 male, 2 female] and I definitely have to check online for pictures how they look [cause I couldn’t see from that distance].
They mostly played new songs from their album “Gothic Kabbalah” except the song I was waiting for [ the title track for the new album :S ]. Maybe they played it on the last moment, but I was already gone at that time, so allow me to play that song now just for myself…

It wasn’t the best concert in the world, but it was worth my money and my time. Besides, I’m gonna see them again on both Graspop and Wacken :D

Internet

It's been a week since my computer at home had an active internet connection and right now I'm sitting at my grandpa's house again, just to be online :S

During the last two months of 2006, some people had to do some maintenance on the cables beneath the road and put in a few new ones since they're gonna build a whole new residential area behind my house [and a Mosque, but that's another story].
Anyway during their activities they obviously damaged our TV cable [which also functions as MY internet connection] and since they finished this [during Christmas], my internet has been terribly unreliable...
So after 3 weeks of mailing my ISP that I had a problem, someone FINALLY came last week to measure the connection -> conclusion: those diggers F*CKED UP our cable and now I'm sitting at my Grandpa's house on my laptop because the repairs will take up to 3 weeks[!!].

When someone is not paying his bills, they're always on the job immediately, but when someone has a problem, they just take it slow and let me wait while I fill up their pockets with my montly subscription fee :@

It's on!

Well here I am again, sitting in my room on a typical saturday night. I've had a couple of beers, but I'm not drunk :)
Anyway I'm gonna try and get a green light for my graduation project on monday, so I'll have to finish up some work for that tomorrow [or today, whatever you prefer]
I hope that stinking teacher finally will agree to let me do this project cause I want off this school!
I'm just getting more and more demotivated and I can't seem to be getting out of this spiral...
I just want to finish school and start earning a normal salary [so I can visit more concerts <3 ]
Well I'd like to visit more concerts this year [alone or with other people], but I guess that after 24 years of living with my parents, my time to find a place of my own will have to come sooner or later.
I'm not planning to be with my parents till I'm 30, so whenever I'd find a reasonable job and will have the means of renting an appartment, I guess I'll have to take a chance...
Nothing else to tell really except that I visited my best friend today and he has an injured knee. I wasn't visiting him because of that, but you know you have to spend some time with your social contacts from time to time ;)
It's kind of sad for him, because he wanted to train hard to become part of the national team and this was one of his last chances [him being 23 years old] to get there... Now he'll have to rest for at least a couple of months until his knee gets a bit better... Poor him...

At the Threshold of... Europe 2007

This title refers to the Hammerfall tour [in case you didn't know that]
I had to go ALL ALONE [again] because people didn't want to go or couldn't go [NOT wanting to go to HAMMERFALL is a sin and you will all burn for it :D ]

It also seemed that the weather would be bad [thick fog], so I was kinda doubting if I should go by car or with public transportation... Glad I went with my own car [with Hammerfall coming out of the speakers the whole time :P ] Only downside is that you have to pay a parking ticket, but oh well you can't have all the luck in the world...

Hammerfall had 2 opening acts: The Poodles and Krokus. Although the name "The Poodles" would make you laugh, their music is actually really good [going to download some soon ;) ]
Krokus was a bit of a disappointment. It's not that the music was bad, but it's just the guy singing that really annoys me... If it were up to me, The Poodles should've played on their time ;)
When Hammerfall finally started to play, I felt something I hadn't felt in a long time... Happiness! I have no idea how long I've been wanting to see them play live and now it was finally upon me [too bad there was nobody to share in my happiness]
They gave away a FANTASTIC show and had some fireworks [which at the end burned some of the ceiling ;) ]

Hopefully Kamelot will have a great show as well :)

I was going to visit the Con all by myself [as I've done with some other events], but this time I did find someone who wanted to go with me [thank you, ii]. The place where it was held, was the same as with the Baal concert [one week before I started this blog]. It was actually SOLD OUT! Imagine all the people crawling about in front of the collection of Japanese stuff [CD's, DVD's, Magazines] and you have a good idea what a mess it was at the Merchandise stand :S

Anyway, there 3 bands playing at the con: Dokumi [or どくみ a Dutch band with Japanese musical influences], Hagakure [or ハガクレ] and Anti Feminism. The last two were both Japanese bands.

Dokumi has a nice sound and I think it's great that they actually sing in Japanese, but I felt the music was missing something... Maybe it's just me, so I'll just follow their progress and hope they get even better ;)

Next was Hagakure, and although I didn't know any of their music, they make that kind of music that makes you happy inside [I bought their 2nd mini album and it's nice and happy]

Anti Feminism was a bit punkish and since I don't really like Chaotic Punk, I guess this one was the band I liked least...

I had a nice time and I'll probably go again next :D

2006

We are at the end of 2006 and I'm trying to remember what this year has brought me...
Obviously not too much good things or else I would've remembered something ;)
Maybe I've learned something from 2006:
- Going on the Stena Line boat is cool
- A lot of people still say things and act differently
- Never go on a holiday with your girlfriend and her family
- My problems are nothing compared to those other people have
- Going to concerts all alone isn't that bad
- D'espairs Ray is AMAZING!
- Having accidents with your car costs a lot of money
- Iron Maiden should've done a normal concert
- WII makes you look like a spazz, but it's actually really cool!
- Guild Wars is one addictive game...
